Soul Survivor 2008

Soul Survivor is a Christian charity which puts on events for teenagers. It is best known for the five day summer camps held at various venues in the UK and also worldwide. In August 2008 a group of youngsters from Abbey Chapel went with two leaders to Soul Survivor in Shepton Mallet, Somerset .

What did we do? Worshipped God, learned from His Word and prayed. We gathered together communcally twice each day, and in addition there was a vast programme of teaching sessions to choose from, and also late night venues; cafes and night spots; dance, drama, music, art classes - and skateboard facilities.

How many were there? 10,000! Yes honestly!!

What happened? Hundreds of youngsters committed their lives to Jesus for the first time, and countless others were encouraged and challenged about their faith. Our youngsters also enjoyed the experience of being part of the much wider family of God.

What else? The music was fantastic; the mud was unbelievable - but fortunately it didn't rain too much while we were there, so we kept dry (but not necessarily clean) in our tents!

We mostly cooked for ourselves on our trusty two-ring stove, so we could have the opportunity to see each other and exchange notes on the activities we had chosen to do.

What did we think? Brilliant! Everyone wants to go again, so I guess that speaks for itself!
